french vogue created quite the stir this past year when they did a photo shoot that featured blackface (white models painted black a la minstrel show)...at the same time Tyra Banks made no waves when she did her version of blackface on her show ANTM by painting models mixed races other than their own...so who gets to play with race? who gets to re-appropriate it? and who doesn't? is this a new example of racism or imperialism? who owns which races?
